OUR FOUNDER
KEISHA COVINGTON

My Story
My name is Keisha Covington, and I am the Founder and Executive Director of Yellow Beans Academy. For more than 27 years, I worked in the corporate world, building a career in business, administration, finance, and leadership. While those experiences taught me valuable professional skills, my heart eventually led me to education. Over the past seven years, I have had the privilege of working with students, helping them develop the knowledge, confidence, and skills needed to prepare for their futures.
Throughout my time in education, I witnessed many students who were capable of achieving great things but struggled to thrive in overcrowded classrooms, environments filled with distractions, or situations where their individual needs could not always be fully addressed. I began to envision a different type of school—one where students could receive personalized attention, build meaningful relationships, and develop both academic and life skills in a structured and supportive setting.
That vision became Yellow Beans Academy.
Yellow Beans Academy was founded on the belief that every child has unique gifts, talents, and potential. Our goal is to provide a learning environment where students are known, valued, challenged, and encouraged to become confident learners, critical thinkers, and responsible citizens.
My mission is simple: to help students discover their strengths, build confidence, develop character, and prepare for lifelong success.
My Educational Philosophy
I believe every child has the ability to learn, grow, and succeed when provided with a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment. Students learn best when they feel valued, respected, and challenged to reach their full potential.
My educational philosophy is centered on the belief that education should extend beyond academics.
While a strong academic foundation is essential, students must also develop critical thinking, communication, problem-solving, decision-making, leadership, and interpersonal skills that will prepare them for success in school, their careers, and life.
I believe in maintaining high expectations while recognizing that each child learns differently. Through personalized instruction, meaningful relationships, and a growth mindset, educators can help students build confidence, discover their strengths, and take ownership of their learning.
At Yellow Beans Academy, we are committed to educating the whole child by combining academic excellence with character development, life skills, and real-world learning experiences. Our goal is to nurture responsible, confident, and compassionate individuals who are prepared to make positive contributions to their families, communities, and the world around them.
Every child has a seed of greatness. At Yellow Beans Academy, we help that seed grow.
And that's my story!
